Fuzzy Sweater

Sweater: H&M, Skirt: trifted, Necklace: Modcloth

Today the power went off at work, so I got out a couple hours early. This meant coming home, drinking a bloody mary and then napping for two hours - the dream. Now that I'm out of college I rarely get to nap anymore. It also meant getting to take outfit photos while it was light out. This sweater is my favorite thing. I feel like I look like a fuzzy easter egg. People tend to touch me a lot when I where this sweater, which I totally don't mind. I think someone needs to have a skirt intervention because I can't stop wearing this one. It's just perfect with every outfit and it was only $4!

Perfect Fall Weekend

Do you ever have a weekend where you just feel like you just made the most of a season? I feel like I was winning at fall this weekend. In addition to pumpkin carving I baked all the fall things — pumpkin seeds, apple tart, apple pie, and meatloaf wrapped in bacon. On Saturday Jimmy and I went to see Nightscape at Longwood Gardens, a show where they project lights onto the trees and plants. It was the coolest experience. Everyone was walking around in a sort of shared trace. They had a Victory beer garden, so drink in hand we walked through the beautiful lights, completely mesmerized. It was hard to get great photos of it, but that's alright. It was honestly better to be immured in the experience. Sitting by a lake, drinking a beer, with my head on my boyfriend's shoulder, watching the lights dance across the trees  I don't think it gets much better than that!

DIY Flower Crown

What you need:
Main flower
Filler flowers
Floral Tape (you can get this at any craft store)
Floral Wire
Scissors

First step is to measure your head. This doesn't have to be anything precise, simply wrap the wire around your head and mark it. Once I have the general size, I like to wrap the wire around a couple times to give it some stability. Then wrap the ends around. If you want you can use some floral tape to make sure nothing is poking out.

Next start cutting the stems of your flowers. You want to leave a little bit so you can easily attach it to the crown, about two inches. Make sure if you're using roses you cut off the thorns!

Grab one of your main flowers and a smaller filler flower and tape the bottom together with the floral tape. You make several of these, amount depends on size of the flowers.

Once you have enough of the little boutonnieres, you can start laying them out. Make sure they're all facing one direction with the nicest flowers in the middle. I don't add flowers all the way around because I like being able to adjust it without crushing any!

Use little bits of wire to attach the flowers to the crown. Wrap the wire around the floral tape and the crown wire, making sure to tuck in any point parts. It may seem flimsy, but once you put it on your head it will have structure!

I made a little one for my cat, which she did not enjoy. She reminds me of Dinah from Alice in Wonderland!

Visit Philly: Japanese Gardens

Yesterday Chloe and I were dropping my brother off in the suburbs and randomly decided to visit the Japanese Gardens. I had been vaguely aware of them, but wasn't sure exactly what/where they were. We had nothing on the agenda for the afternoon, so we thought we'd check it out. It turned out to be this completely gorgeous and serene enclave within Fairmount Park. With waterfalls, koi ponds, tea ceremonies and bridges, it was like stepping into the most fantastic painting. Taking off our shoes to wander around the home was so lovely. I ended up buying a little koi coin purse (a KOIn purse...get it) from their cute gift shop. If you ever visit, definitely buy food to feed the koi!
