I have to say, I love Halloween weekend (Halloweekend). I always welcome the opportunity to dress up. This year Chloe and I decided to go to my hometown of Montclair, NJ for a couple days. It was nice to catch up with my parents. It's always funny being home now that I'm an adult and asking my dad if he can drive us to the bar. On Friday I went as the Log Lady (RIP) and Chloe as dead Laura Palmer. We were surprisingly recognized by people at the bar we went to! Hilariously I looked so different with a wig and glasses on that one of my good friends didn't even recognize me. On Saturday we woke up early to drive to Storm King, an outdoor sculpture garden just over the border in New York State. I included a couple photos here, but I have more coming up! It was the perfect weather and we were constantly yelling about how gorgeous everything was. We got back on Saturday with just enough time to take a little disco nap, with Heathers on in the background. We dressed as Veronica Sawyer from Heathers, pre and post explosion. It was a costume that we had to explain to most people, but those who got it were stoked about it. We went to a party in Bushwick, croquet mallets in tow, saying our favorite lines from the movie: "what's your damage?" and "how very." What'd you all dress as?

Halloween recap
I'm not sure why, but everyone seemed more excited for halloween this year than I remember. Maybe it has something to do with Sandy hitting last year, but people were dressing up two weeks before the actual event. I don't mind. I like all the festivities surrounding the holiday - pumpkin carving, candy eating, and costumes. This year I dressed as a bunch of bananas (with one ape who chased us all around), a hippie, the painting American Gothic and zombie Wayne and Garth from Wayne's World. I spent the weekend in upstate New York visiting my boyfriend who is a big fan of the holiday. Turns out his hidden talent is halloween makeup (who knew?). Getting ready was, at times, even more fun than going out. Already looking forward to next year.

Being French in France
Halloween in Paris was completely surreal. I left London a day before schedule to take the train to Paris and stay with my old roommate and good friend Francesca. Grace was leaving London on Wednesday too, so it didn't make sense for me to be in London alone. I didn't really have time to get a costume together, so Francesca helped me decide last minute to dress like a frenchman. While in the grocery store to buy a baguette, someone asked Francesca (dressed as Frida Kahlo) if she was going to a party alone because they didn't think I was dressed up! Turns out French people actually dress like this. We went to a friend of Francesca's apartment before the party. All of her friends were so nice and alot of fun. After hanging out and being fed avocado by Francesca, we headed over to a Halloween party that had NYU students from all across Europe. The party took place in a beautiful apartment provided by NYU that put mine to shame. I spent the night feeding people baguettes, meeting people, taking over the music selection and of course dancing! I was lucky that my costume doubled as a snack! After the party Francesca and I went back to her apartment where she made us both pasta and we watched Parks and Rec until I fell asleep.
