Christmas Spirit

I'm currently blogging from the winter wonderland that is Vermont! I got a really nice camera from my mother and brother for Christmas and have been snapping away. I love the holidays spending time with family, usually stuffing fancy cheese into my mouth. After finals, the holidays are much needed relaxation. Christmas was very calm this year. Now that I'm taking pictures constantly, I'm sure I'll be updating alot more. I hope everyone is enjoying spending time with loved ones and getting a chance to take a breath!

Thanksgiving moments

I'm sure I don't need to explain my absence to anyone reading this, the handful of you that do (hi mom!). The holidays are a time where we are forced to put down our laptops because we're usually double fisting plates of food, preferably in the form of meat and cheese. I wanted to share with you a couple snaps from the last couple weeks. I attended my cousin's wedding (more pictures and a better description to come) which was unbelievable. Thanksgiving is no doubt my favorite holiday. Last year I spent my Thanksgiving in Italy cooking dinner for friends. Despite it being hard to find Thanksgiving ingredients in Italy (I had to swap out chicken for turkey), it was one of my best Thanksgivings to date. This year the highlights of my (count 'em three) Thanksgivings was buying cheese by the pound for mac and cheese, my mother's seemly magic ability of being able to fit a large number of people in a small space, my brother's brussels sprouts, and going from house to house bundled up in the cold with my boyfriend. Trying to fit multiple families into one day meant a tight schedule, fun times and beyond full bellies. In between traveling and holiday craziness I was all about my moment to sit and relax, preferably by the fire. I hope you all are enjoying the upcoming merriness that begins with my favorite holiday! I'm back in my apartment, bundled up under the covers, excited for more winter cheer!

Purim Party

Photos courtesy of Natalie

Last night my roommates had a party for the Jewish holiday, Purim. They explained it to me a couple times and eventually just settled on saying it was Jewish halloween. I'm not sure what I was dressed as, but I combined flowers with a hippie vibe and this was the result. Lots of people showed up including some friends from home.

DIY wall art

I found instructions for this DIY wall art here. It was really easy and looks great. I made these two, one serious and one funny, for Katherine. She has a whole house now, so I thought she could use some wall art, plus she loves Twin Peaks. I bought both of these pictures at goodwill for a couple dollars each and I'm so happy at how they turned out! I'm definitely making more for my own walls. Have a Happy New Year!

Christmas Eve

Mom and Nanu sitting down for dinner

what?

Merry Christmas! I spent Christmas Eve with my mom, brother and Nanu. We had a delicious dinner of beef stew, mashed potatoes, salad, asparagus and garlic bread. After dinner we drank mulled wine and made a fire outside in the snow. My brother and I had a snowball fight and he put out the fire when he hit me with a gigantic snowball. All I wanted this year was a white Christmas and it was so special waking up to everything dusted in white snow. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
